Fuel
New Zealand has basically four fuel types of fuel available at the service stations. Diesel, 91, 95, and 98 octanes. On average there is an 8 cents/litre difference between 91-98 octane which if you operate a Private Hire service vehicles can impact your pricing. Like the fuel companies the crude oil price effects the Passenger service industry as it fluctuates with the world economics’.
At the time of scribing, in Canterbury (NZ) the average cost /ltr was diesel $1.30, 91: $2.00 95/96: $2.24 (all in NZD) which can be an unforeseen cost if you hadn’t planned your holiday for this. On average you can be looking at $90-$120 NZD to fill the rental car that was so cheap to rent. Second question, is the vehicle serviced regularly ensuring that its running at its optimum fuel economy? Why would you rent a car that you will need to spend time at the pump with?
That is why at Kiwi Chauffeur Services we provide economical, low emission vehicles which translates to more time on the road doing what you need to do on your holiday, and saving you money by staying away from the fuel stations.
